Cinderella who???

Yesterday I was talking to my students about the structure of a story. We were discussing how in every fiction story there is a problem that is most commonly revealed in the beginning of the story. Thinking I was targeting my students' interest and background knowledge, I said, "For example, take the story of Cinderella, what was the problem? When are we introduced to it? How and when is the problem solved?" One of my "lovelies" as I call them, raises her hand and proceeds to tell me the story, and right in the middle she says, "and the fairy mary, I mean mary god, I mean fairy god mary, who was she?" Naturally my response was, "Darling, we are not at church, that would be the fairy godmother."
